Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") before using acoupl. By creating an account or using the app or this website, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use acoupl.

What acoupl is (and isn't)

acoupl is a private relationship coordination and wellness platform for committed couples.

acoupl is not a therapy service, counselling service, mental health service, or medical service.Nothing in the Service is professional advice of any kind. If you're experiencing a relationship crisis, mental health crisis, or medical emergency, please contact a qualified professional or emergency services immediately.

Who can use acoupl

You must be 18 or older to use acoupl. By using it, you confirm that:

  • You are at least 18 years old
  • You are a human individual (not a bot or automated system)
  • You are in a consensual committed relationship with the partner you link to your account
  • You have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms
  • Your use of acoupl doesn't break any law that applies to you

Your account

To use acoupl, you need to create an account. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your credentials secure, and take responsibility for all activity on your account. Contact us at hello@acoupl.com immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.

Partner linking

acoupl lets you link your account with one partner. By doing so, you confirm your partner has consented to be linked. You're responsible for removing the link if your relationship ends or your partner withdraws consent. We are not responsible for misuse of this feature, including linking without someone's knowledge.

Sensitive personal information

acoupl handles sensitive personal information relating to your intimate preferences and relationship. By using the Service, you explicitly consent to this. We use end-to-end encryption on sensitive data — this means we cannot read its contents. No security system is perfect, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Subscriptions and payment

We offer a free tier with limited features. Paid plans are available under the acoupl Plus subscription:

  • Weekly — $1.99/week
  • Monthly — $7.99/month
  • Annual — $49.99/year ($4.17/month equivalent)

A 7-day free trial is available. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, you will be charged at the applicable plan rate. Subscriptions are billed in advance and renew automatically. You can cancel any time — cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. Subscription fees are generally non-refundable. If you believe you are entitled to a refund under consumer law in your region, contact us at hello@acoupl.com.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use acoupl to harm, harass, or stalk anyone (including your partner), link accounts without consent, reverse engineer the app, create fake accounts, introduce malware, scrape data, or use the Service for any unlawful purpose. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

Assumption of risk

You use acoupl entirely at your own risk.

acoupl is not a licensed healthcare provider. It does not provide medical advice, therapy, counselling, or clinical services. Nothing you receive through acoupl should be treated as professional relationship, medical, or mental health advice. We make no guarantees about relationship outcomes. You are solely responsible for your own health, wellbeing, and decisions.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND — EXPRESS OR IMPLIED — INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR MEET YOUR EXPECTATIONS. YOU USE ACOUPL AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION AND RISK.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions — in those cases the above applies to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.

Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES — INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR ANY RELATIONSHIP HARM — ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF: (A) THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (B) $100.

Intellectual property

All intellectual property in acoupl — including software, design, the "acoupl" name, wordmark, and brand assets — is owned by or licensed to us. You retain ownership of content you submit; by submitting it you grant us a limited licence to process and store it solely to provide the Service to you.

Third-party services

acoupl integrates with third-party services including payment processors, push notification providers, and analytics tools. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms. We are not responsible for third-party practices.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access at any time for conduct that violates these Terms. You may close your account at any time via your account settings or by emailing hello@acoupl.com.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email or in-app. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy governs how we collect and use your personal information and is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

General

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in full effect. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and acoupl regarding the Service.
